Mountain Bike Durack's Folly

Lake Argyle Resort - East Kimberley W.A.

Complimenting the Lake Argyle Swim, Durack's Folly is a sixty kilometre mountain bike race set on the majestic Matheson Range in the remote East Kimberley Region of Western Australia. The race is expected to start and finish close to the Lake Argyle Village and will include the irresistible challenge of conquering the historic "Durack's Folly" Mountain Pass. Competitors will use four wheel drive trails, single track and service roads from the Lake Argyle Resort on route to and from the Folly.

Durack's Folly is a torturously steep and heavily degraded cattle route cut by the pioneering Durack Family at the beginning of the last century. A prize purse is offered to the first male and first female rider able to ascend Durack's Folly without footfall or assistance.

"If one were to paint this country in it's true colours, I doubt it would be believed. It would be said at least that the artist exaggerated greatly, for never have I seen such richness and variety of hue as in these ranges"
